A man named Azizur Rahman (40) was standing by the side of the road in Sylhet’s Bishwanath upazila and was drinking tea. Suddenly, miscreants shot him from a CNG-powered autorickshaw. The injured Azizur is a resident of Nachuni village in Dashghar Union of the upazila.

The incident took place around 10 pm on Tuesday near the madrasa adjacent to the Lahri Bridge in the upazila. Police have arrested a suspect named Babul Ahmed (38) in this incident. His home is in Dashghar village of Bishwanath.

Police and local sources said that Azizur Rahman had gone to irrigate his land to catch fish last night. On the way, he was standing by the side of the road and having tea with a few others. At that time, miscreants shot and fled from a CNG-powered autorickshaw. Azizur Rahman’s left hand was shot. Local people rescued him and took him to the hospital. After receiving the information, the police inspected the scene.

Citing the shot Azizur, the police said that Azizur was injured by pellets fired by miscreants. Although his four brothers are in the UK, he lives in the country. He has enmity with the people of the opposition as he is the only one in the family staying in the country.
